AT&T Customer Service Sucks. They Know it. Don’t Care.

AT&T Customer Service Sucks. They Know it. Don’t Care.

I’m currently in the midst a debacle caused 100% by the clusterfuck that is AT&T customer service. They really aren’t doing customer service. They are there to upsell you on their overpriced crap services. If you are an AT&T customer, call this number with a problem: 1.800.331.0500. I dare you. If you do, prepare to be lied to. They will pretend to help you with a smile, but you will quickly learn after you hang up, that they haven’t helped you. The ticket they said they were working on while you were on hold for 1/2 and hour never happened. They were BSing with their friends. The same thing will happen to you the next time you call, and the next.

Here’s a rundown of my current issue. Hours of my time and still not resolved. They don’t know how. They only know how to try to sell you Direct TV, and change you to paperless billing without asking.

If you think complaining and asking for a supervisor will help, read this: AT&T Employee Says Company Turns “Blind Eye” To Lying Customer Service Reps

More insider information on AT&T’s unethical practices: AT&T Insider Claims Company Turns Blind Eye to Errors, Fraud

So if you don’t have time to read the two links above, basically it says AT&T doesn’t care about the customer, only their sales numbers, and upselling the customer. That goes all the way up to top management.

More futile complaints on the AT&T customer forums:

  • Customer Relations – AT&T – Horrible Communication Skills
  • AT&T is horrible
  • HORRIBLE customer service!
  • Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps
  • ATT is Scamming
  • scammer phone call from AT&T technical support
  • Worst customer service possible
  • Customer Service of Yes Men!?
  • Terrible customer service
  • Why does your service suck so bad?

Thumbtack is Spammy

Thumbtack is Spammy

I’ve had a Thumbtack profile for a couple of years, and have been receiving their RFQ emails, but haven’t responded until recently. After the holidays I had a little lull in new business, so took them up on some of their free credits. There were a stream of RFQs for Logo Design, mostly from the East Bay, so I started responding.

After a couple of days I received a message from Thumbtack that the first two quotes I sent hadn’t been opened, so my credits were being refunded. I never heard back from the others, but started to notice a steady stream of RFQs coming in with very similar specifications. Possibly a result of Thumbtack’s submission form, but suspicious nonetheless. Right now, in fact I’m looking at 3 requests from people in the east bay, submitted within the last 3 hours, who need a logo designer, and are using Thumbtack to find one. I’m sorry, but I find that rather hard to believe. And now my credits have run out so I would have to pay to quote on these projects? I think not.
